Spring Cleaning Gutters: Easy Gutter Upkeep in Central Florida

Spring is here in Central Florida! We’re welcoming in warmer weather, more time outside, our friendly comrade pollen, and of course, some spring cleaning! Spring cleaning is the perfect way to remember some of our annual or semi annual home maintenance upkeeps.

Since The History of Gutters has not made it to the best-sellers list lately, we’re sure gutter maintenance has not been top of mind—especially during spring cleaning. In addition to all of the features of your home, gutters play an important and beautiful role in your home. They are designed to collect the rain that lands on your roof and steer it away from the foundation of your home. To help your gutter do its job it is best to clean it out twice a year which is why a spring cleaning your gutters is a must-have tradition unless you have seamless gutters.

Yes, we know, you’d rather be cooking in your outdoor kitchen or gardening in your lovely fenced in backyard, but gutter maintenance is an important topic so we’ve made an easy method for traditional gutter spring cleaning maintenance.

Scoop & Flush:

Scoop: Grab a ladder and bucket or tarp and begin scooping away debris. Use a trowel, plastic shovel or scoop to remove all debris near the downspout and clear any strainers if you have them. Place the debris in a bucket and dump the debris in a compost bin or trash when finished. Reminder, make sure you wait a few days for weather and debris to dry out before cleaning. It is easier to do this when the debris is dry. This is another reason why spring, rather than rainy summers, are a great time for cleaning the gutters.

Flush: After you finish clearing out all of the debris, grab a garden hose for a good flush. This part is important because if you begin flushing and realize the water does not drain, you will be able to identify a clog in the downspout. Use a hose and heavy water pressure setting to flush out the spout and the entire gutter system.

Fresh New Look: Seamless Gutters

Seamless gutters have their magic trait contained right there in the name. Seamless gutters have no seams and the only connecting points are at the downspouts and corners; because of this, the chance of leakage is reduced and the durability is stronger. These gutters are installed by professionals and are designed with the exact measurements of your home. Traditional gutters attract more dirt, sticks, leaves, and debris. If and when these items get stuck they can clog up the gutter. Seamless gutters simply avoid problems of leaks and debris blockages which in turn equals an easier system to maintain.

The truth is, gutters are an extremely important part of your home and whether you do it yourself or pay someone, traditional gutter systems do require more work. Seamless gutters simply mean less buildup, a lot less maintenance, and a lot more curb appeal!

If your home does not have a gutter system most definitely consider installing one. For gorgeous seamless gutters and less time spent maintaining traditional gutters, we have professionals ready to answer questions and begin installation. We’re here to help contact us today at 1-407-706-4201.
