Easy Ways To Create New Intentions For The New Year In Your Central Florida Home

As we wind down from a busy year here in Central Florida, it is always great to carve out some time to reflect on where we are headed. They say looking forward is great and being present is even better. Perhaps creating new intentions is a time where both things can happen. So whether you cozy up near your fireplace or head outdoors in a hammock in your lanai, take some time to reflect on where you want the upcoming year to go. Below are some helpful starting points to get your ideas flowing.

Discard the Old

Before drumming up the new, sometimes we have to make sure we’re good with the past. Grab some small pieces of paper and a pen and jot down things you want to let go of or things you would like to change. If you have one, sit by the firepit and when you’re ready just slowly throw those pieces into the fire; releasing all of the attachments to those things and allow for new to flow in.

If you don’t have one, it’s ok, just make sure you allow yourself the gentleness to know how to begin things with a fresh perspective.

Journal it Out

An ideal place for this practice might be in a place often overlooked for this: the pergola. Grab your favorite pen and journal and brainstorm what great things happened this year and where you want to go moving forward. In this specific case, reflect on all of the great things that happened in and around your home space and begin imagining more things you would like to create in your homespace. Maybe that means more dinners under the pergola or barbecues in the outdoor kitchen you created. The sky’s the limit with what you write down and dream up.

Blank Pages

Whether you do this under the pergola, around the fire pit, or lounging by the pool. Nothing says restart like a crisp clean blank piece of paper. Personal preferences are in play, but natural sunlight and a blank desk are a great go-to as well for this. Create categories for each area you are creating intentions for. Perhaps these are intentions for creating more bonding experiences with loved ones in your new home or goals for upcoming renovation projects, every single intention is valid and worthy of reflection.

Vision Boards

Why not do a two in one and declutter! Grab some of those old magazines laying around the house and a piece of poster board or a nice blank sheet of paper–hey if you really want to get fancy you can frame this later; start cutting. Cut pictures of things you want to achieve in the next coming year. Whether these are memories you want to create with friends and family or personal goals, each picture will be a reminder of what you are working towards. You can do this outdoors in a screened in pool area or in your lanai or home office. The important thing is to find photos or images of things that represent what you want to achieve.
