How do I Host Thanksgiving Outdoors in Florida?

Throughout many parts of the United States, this is the season of falling leaves, sweaters and eventually thick jackets. The beautiful news for us here in Central Florida is that by the time Thanksgiving arrives in late November, we will still be able to celebrate our turkey day in shorts. One of the best ways to take advantage of the great weather we have is to celebrate Thanksgiving outdoors. Wondering how to do it? We’ll share some great places to host right in your very own home.

Backyard

Whether you have an outdoor kitchen or decide to bring out a foldable table and some chairs for a casual night hosting friends and family, your backyard can be the best place for some fun during Thanksgiving. If you have a fenced in backyard, friends and family can have pets join in on the fun without the hassle of worrying about their whereabouts. Why not try a deep fried turkey this year! The backyard is a great place to bring backyard games, music, and fun entertainment near the fire pit to end the night. Thanksgiving in Florida can definitely bring outdoor living fun.

Lanai:

Derived from the Hawaiian concept of mixing outdoor living in the home, a lanai can be a great space to host Thanksgiving in Florida. A lanai is essentially an extension of the home with a screen enclosure which can be a traditional screen enclosure or a retractable screen. This can guarantee access to great weather, easy to clean flooring, and a place that is versatile with an indoor and outdoor living atmosphere.

Outdoor Kitchen:

If you really want to ramp up your outdoor living space consider an outdoor kitchen. Outdoor kitchens allow for you to have all of the bells and whistles in terms of accessories like kegs for beer or kombucha, and grills or even smokers if you like barbecuing. If you already have an outdoor kitchen, why not use it this year when you are hosting. I am sure your guests will enjoy being in the fresh air and gathering around the outdoor space for a memorable evening.

Pergola:

Another great, and often underutilized, area that is perfect for hosting is right under your pergola. If you don’t have a pergola you should definitely consider getting one. It is a quick and inexpensive way to add style, charm, and value to your home. It is also a great place for dining under the stars. Whether you have a small group of two or three or a large group of ten, a pergola is a beautiful way of creating a fun experience together. Why not decorate your pergola and host a Friendsgiving this year. People will love it!
